Who publishes it
Demo SaaS is published by Cargovate LLC, a Vexidus Corporation company. Cargovate builds a supply chain and asset lifecycle platform, and runs a public demo of it that anyone can open without speaking to us.
We are therefore a vendor writing about how to evaluate vendors. You should weigh that. Our interest is simple and we would rather state it: we think software should be chosen by trying it, and we built our own demo on that belief.
Why a vendor wrote this
We built a demo that anyone can open because we would rather be chosen by someone who tested the product than by someone who liked a presentation. A demo is only worth that if the person inside it knows what to look for, and the method for looking is short enough to write down. These guides are that method.
It is the same method whichever product is on the screen. Writing it for our own demo alone would have made it an advertisement; writing it for any demo makes it something a reader can use against us as easily as for us, which is the test a guide like this should pass.
The rules the guides are written under
- Nothing is ranked, rated or reviewed. This is not a review site. Examples in the guides use unnamed products.
- The directory lists demos, by request. A demo appears on the directory page only because its vendor asked. Listings are alphabetical, each fact is marked as checked by us or stated by the vendor, and a listing is not a recommendation.
- Nobody pays. There are no sponsored placements, no paid listings and no affiliate links.
- Our own product is labeled as ours. The Cargovate demo is in the directory, marked as the publisher's, and the worked example runs the checklist against it. It says what that demo contains and what it cannot prove, and it does not score the product, because a vendor's verdict on itself is not evidence.
- No statistics without a source. Advice about how to run a demo is practice, not research, and we have not dressed it up with figures. Where a guide makes a factual claim about our demo, we checked it against the demo on the review date.
- The methods apply whatever you are buying. Nothing here depends on choosing any particular product, including ours.
- Guides are reviewed and dated. The date at the foot of each guide shows when it was last checked.
What the guides are not
They are general guidance for people choosing business software. They are not legal advice, and they are not a substitute for your own procurement, security or legal review. Contract terms, data protection obligations and security requirements depend on your country, your sector and your customers; where a guide mentions an agreement such as a data processing agreement, ask your own adviser what applies to you.
Where to start
If you have a demo open in another tab, go straight to the checklist. If you are about to sit through a vendor's presentation, read running a sales demo first. If you are comparing products, begin with the scorecard, because it has to be written before the first demo. The home page lists every guide in the order you would use them.
Contact and corrections
Corrections, questions about a guide and requests about the Cargovate demo go through Cargovate's contact page. If a guide is wrong or out of date, we would like to know, and we will fix it and change the review date.
